Changing Hotmail’s font

Posted on March 17, 2012 by admin

Changing Hotmail’s fontHotmail is a pretty hold messaging system, and even though it has changed a lot over the years, it may get boring after a long time using the same website style. Pretty much everything will get boring after a long of time using it, the only exception to this is something you really do love, but I highly doubt there is someone who loves that much this service to the point of never get boring of how the main website looks like.

The good thing about this is that, even though we cannot change of the website looks like, we can change the font of our messages, which will cause the overall image to drastically change, since most of the websites are just some texts with links into them. To do this, you must first log-in to your hotmail account. Once you’ve been redirected to the main page, place your cursor over your name (on top of the website) and some more options will pop-up, you’ll now click on the link that says “options” to cause another page to load. Now look carefully on the page, on the left side of it you’ll see some labels, click on the one named “Mail” and another page will load again. On this one, you’ll click on the link that says “Message font and signature”, under the “Writing email” title.

Now you’ll be able to select your message fonts, as well as the color, size and some others attributes, like the fact that it can be underlined by default.
Once you’ve finished changing all the settings you wanted to change, click on save and now you’ll just have to enjoy the new setting you decided for your mails. Also, if you can make your others contacts to change theirs fonts, you’ll end up having a very big amount of different mails, and every single one of them will be totally original at the end. Remember, creativity is always useful, and even more if you use it to cheer your life a bit more.

Hotmail’s graymail

Posted on March 2, 2012 by admin

Hotmail’s graymailWe all enjoy having a way to send messages and different kind of information all over the world, especially to those who we love and enjoy their presence and know that they enjoy our presence too. Sending and receiving mails from those people are more than a warming feeling and even more welcomed, due to the fact that we’re being remembered is truly spectacular and heart-warming, we can feel that we’re resting in every other’s hearts.

But one thing for sure is irritating is believe we have received a new message from someone, and ends up being a stupid notification from another site. We tend to delete those, and in order to stop doing the same thing to the “Hotmail’s bulletin report”, Hotmail itself made a new move, so we can know all the news regarding to this system without getting bored out of it, and this was made by deleting these kind of mails, called “graymails” (mostly because gray is the color we refer as when something is boring beyond imagination). In order to do this, they changed the way the introduced the bulletin board, and instead of sending one message every time they changed something, now there is one single mail in a special section, and this one will just “refresh” every time another new pop-up. But this is not the only measure they’ve taken to avoid the graymail, they also gave some “automatic” functions to users so they can automatically delete some messages without even having to open them.
Looks like Hotmail’s team will to stop to pleasure their users with new options and functions to help us eliminate those things in this service that really annoy us. And they won’t just stop there, they’re making many polls to know which others things they should change, so try to be on touch and your problems regarding this service may disappear.

Attaching Office documents to a mail

Posted on January 20, 2012 by admin

Attaching Office documents to a mailOne of the best uses that we can give to an electronic messaging system, also known as e-mail, is to attach files to a mail so we can share data to our contacts, also known as the receivers of the mail. Most of nowadays’ messaging system has an option to attach files, but most of them work in a different fashion than every other, and in this article we’re intended to explain you how to use Hotmail’s attachments’ system.

Normally we can attach almost every kind of file to our mails, even though we have a space limit per message and per attachment too (not surpassing the 10 MB per mail). This can be pretty inconvenient when we want to send big files, like a movie or HD pictures of or whatever we’ve taken pictures of. But since Hotmail is a Windows’ product, the developer has decided to give a little boost to those who owns or have a Windows’ OS installed in their PC by letting Hotmail’s users upload Office’s files in an easier way. Now, every Office file we upload to a mail, such as a Word file, an Excel file, or a PowerPoint file, can be easily viewed by the receiver, letting that people see the content of the mail online instead of having to download the attached file and run it into the computer itself, which can make it easier to see important documents and to prevent your computer from getting viruses due to download a file from a mail.

Now, the question may be how to attach this kind of file, which is not hard at all. Just write a mail as regular, and when the time of attaching a file comes, click in “Office doc” instead of clicking in “Attachments” as you usually do. This will let you upload an Office document which can be easily previewed next. When you’re done attaching all the files you may need, just click on “send” and the mail will be sent as usual.

Automatic replies in hotmail

Posted on December 21, 2011 by admin

Automatic repliesHotmail is a great messaging system that has the solution to almost every problem, and it has the perfect solution when you’re on vacations and you don’t feel like replying any kind of email. But what may happen if those emails are really important, like some kind of business problem? Maybe some colleague didn’t know you’re on vacations and sent you a mail anyway and is patiently waiting for your reply but instead it never came. That would get you in serious troubles, even on vacations, so Hotmail has the perfect solution: the automatic reply.

Reverse engineering in Hotmail’s messages

Posted on November 26, 2011 by admin

Reverse engineering in Hotmail's messagesAdvances in technology and informatics are sure a great help for everyday life, giving us much things to use in our advantage so we don’t have to worry about meaningless things like trying to contact someone face-to-face, we can talk to that person by phone or even chat with him/her. But these advances don’t just bring us good things to keep our life in a good mood, in can also give us one of the most troublesome things: spam messages.

Even if there are many safe type of messaging services, like Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo, we’ll always receive some kind of spam messages, but we can always some kind of spam message and we must be ready to block them. These three messaging services has something in common: you can block a sender, but to do so you must know who send you the message in first place. If you run into the problem of not knowing who send it (because you receive the same message that were sent with different accounts) you may have to give use of a simple way of doing hard things: reverse engineering. Basically, with this you’ll just try to figure out the source of where the mail came from instead of just blocking it (people use it in a daily-basis to know how machines are made, they just dissemble them and assemble them again). Just try typing out the most used phrase in a mail in Google and you’ll end up with the source of the messenger, which you may block later.

Maybe this won’t always work, but it’ll give you a lot of practise for other problems of the same type, most of the messages has a source, maybe advertisement or a mail-chain. The only problem about this is that it’ll work for a short time, since everyday new ways of protecting your identity, even if it’s for just annoying spam messages, are developed in order to keep annoying people with spam message and advertisements.

Deleting a contact from Hotmail

Posted on November 21, 2011 by admin

Deleting a contact from HotmailWe humans hold relations between each others, but when we decide that one relation with a certain person ahs ended and we don’t want to talk or see that person ever again we just have to delete all kind of contact we want from them, and one of the things that are deleted nowadays when we want to stop talking with a certain someone is his/her hotmail contact from our own account, something that would take some time in the past.

We all know that loading a web browser is a lot faster than just loading a program, like loading Mozilla Firefox ton access a web page can be faster than loading MSN and then wait for it to properly connect to our Hotmail account (which may fail sometimes). That’s why we want to explain you how to delete a contact directly from Hotmail instead of MSN, since it can be easier and faster. First you need to log-in to your Hotmail account, so remembering your account and your password are crucial at this point. Once you’ve successfully logged-in, go to your Inbox. Now, on the top of the page, you’ll be able to see a label that says “Messenger”, place your cursor over it and some new options will appear. Now you’ll click on the one that says “Contacts”, loading a new page when you do so. Now you just need to mark those contacts you want to delete and then click on the option that appears on the top as “delete”.
With this, those annoying contacts you don’t want anymore will be gone for good, and even in a simpler way than waiting for a software to load and connect properly. You can even feel better for doing it in this way, since it shows that “that” person didn’t even care that much to even wait for the MSN to load and delete it that way.

Skydrive offers unlimited space?

Posted on November 16, 2011 by admin

Skydrive offers unlimited space? At first, it may sound like Hotmail has gone insane, giving up so much space for free, but it’s not what you may think, and at the same time it is. Space to save files is something that is well-paid, and it would be hard to imagine that such a big company like Microsoft would give it up as it were candies, knowing that a 320 GB hard disk drive would be around 80 dollars, you can also turn that free service known as Skydrive into a paid service to secure people’s data.
Well, it turns out that Hotmail has announced that the 25 GB limit it’s not there anymore, but just in certain cases, like pictures and documents (such as Word, Excel or any other text file), you’ll have unlimited space to store those type of files, perfect for those ones who likes to send pictures of holidays, or for the business-type of person who must send tons of Words and Excel files to their bosses or business-partners. But if you would like to upload things like movies, softwares, music or other kind of files that aren’t plain-text files, you’ll still have that 25 GB limit. This may sound bad comparing to the first part of the new, but let’s face the actual service: having 25 GB of free online space it’s more than awesome, considering that mostly of the sites that offers this kind of space would be just 5 or 10 GB.

As you can see, Hotmail is moving towards to future thinking in their users first, and the fact that are not asking to be paid for the 25 GB service when mostly of the sites that offers the same quantity ask for a pretty considerable fee per month, we are the one winning here. 25 GB is more than we could wish for music and videos, even if we upload a whole movie in 1080p format, that won’t even be more than 10 GB of our space, and we can always delete other files to upload new ones.
